Well, today is the Lunar New Year which is celebrated mostly by 2 billion people worldwide.

A traditional time to honor ancestors and deities, with family reunions and street parades, and fireworks to drive off evil spirits. While based on the Chinese lunar calendar, Lunar New Year is also celebrated in Korea, Singapore, Mongolia, Tibet, Vietnam and in Asian communities worldwide.

Many Asian cultures historically follow a lunar, rather than solar, calendar, so the Lunar New Year falls on a different day on the Gregorian calendar every year.

the Lunar New Year is seen as a time of reunion and rebirth, marking the end of winter and the start of spring.

The Chinese calendar is on a 12-year cycle, with each year linked to one of a dozen animals — the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

Anyways, its been a month into 2022 now, and I have applied to many jobs — successfully obtaining one as a forklift driver. I really enjoy it because its mostly independent work. I am continuing to apply to other jobs and am slowly trying to build my new routine schedule for the year. I will go more into that in a little bit.

About my job: I’ve worked there for about 3 weeks to almost a month now. I go into work for 4pm and stay until about 9:30 every night. Since it is winter time, I wear snow pants, a heavy snow coat, and cover my face and hands strategically from the cold, cold air. It’s not necessarily in a warehouse, I unload semis and reload them, moving around the dock like a little ant making a route going back and forth. The people are cool. Mostly guys but i’ve talked with most of them and have made pals already even after only a few weeks being there.

Today I went to the gym around noon, then after working out I went to Martin’s Super Market to pick up quick food for the house. It was filled with old people and people in general filling up before a winter storms hits. Whats expected of the winter storm/blizzard: Two feet of snow. You could tell that everyone was in excitement for whatever was to come. I went into work then for 4pm and an hour later we were all told that work was cancelled for tomorrow (the snow hadn’t even arrived yet but the anticipation of it…yikes).

Heres a look at what was/is to come: ( I am at home in bed making this post at midnight — still no snow.)

I am happy so far with myself for the month of January. I told myself I wanted to get a job and make money, and then to also read up on financial literacy and how to invest/save/etc. In order to actually take action, I need money first. So the next few steps I think are to acquire jobs or ways to make money.

Other options for growth and money:

TEFL English Certificate

Donate Blood

Volunteer Firefighter
